    what going on?!?

hi looking for advice now as went on holidays and used my hotel network to connect to internet and now on the third day I got about 30 emaills saying MAIL DELIVERY FAILURE!!! and one from friend of mine asking whats going on with me as he got some adds from my address...

have three different mails and that particcular one was remembered by browser the other two have set up on android gmail application but when saw these 30 failure delivery didnt go to google android app...

so can some1 tell me whats that about ? is xoom really infected? i mean can android which is linux based get infected that way?
what should i do? hard reset? i remember doing hard reset leaves all data like music etc so can any infected file stay here after reset?

got AVG antivir and after scanAVG says tablet is clean...
installed DroidDream malvare detection and it also says tablet is clean...
finally installed GuardX and it also says xoom is clean

so whats going on here and whats best advice u can give me ?

just a guess here but to me it sounds like your email account got hacked and not a virus on your xoom. was it a google account that it happened to? I have 3 or 4 friends who's google account got hacked in the last couple of months. Have they gotten anything since this happened? As far as mail that didn't get sent that could be unrelated to it. would need to know more about why they failed. There should be more info in the message you received about it.

Possibly your password was snatched at the hotel. But just change your password and you should be fine.

I use hotel networks all the time. They are a lot more secure than the ones in outside places like mcdonalds or starbucks but of course are not totally secure. That may come back to bite me sooner or later but i have been doing it for many years now. you just have to be careful to be sure you are connecting to the hotel and not some local something that says freewifi or something like that. the hotel should tell you what the name of their router is. And using secure sites is also a good idea (make sure the lock it lit and the address is https). And of course stay away from your bank account if you can help it. If I am going to be out somewhere that I know i will need to use open wifi and HAVE to get on my bank I will change the password as soon as I get back to a secure spot.

thats the evils of using wifi at a place like that.everyone on that network can potentially see all your activity.

Well, there's one problem with this scenario. Yahoo's email login is secure so sniffing the login/password off public WiFi isn't going to work. My wife's gmail acct was compromised some months ago and now we have it set to notify her whenever a login is attempted elsewhere. To date we've seen 2, maybe 3 attempts and all from .cn address space...go figure However, I have shown her the wisdom of a strong password.

It's likely the password was easy enough to crack or malware was installed on another machine. Check your other systems for malware, trojans, keyloggers, etc...

    good luck.
