Strictly from a os standpoint i think google because of its openness. Apple is too closed minded.

What happened to Windows Phone and QNX (Blackberry). Or even Symbian or Windows Mobile? I had to vote for Apple. Though I hate it with a passion. Who else could get billions of non-tech people to blindly follow them on word of mouth and create an ecosystem that basically made up for lack of flash?

My apologies for the oversight. Flash is basically phasing out because of the newer languages. But that seems to me to be a mistake. Still tons of sites that rely on flash.

Yeah, flash may phase out over time but it won't be overnight. I think it will be a fairly long time since it will still be supported on the PC. I hear some developers prefer it for some things. That will drive a rift between the PC and mobile web experience just like before. That's why I am glad to know flash will continue to work in JellyBean and I also have a BB Playbook. I don't even think the Win 8 RT tablet will support flash; you'll need the Win 8 Pro model. I really don't know how iOS users can stand it but they just seem to say, "oh well" and go on.

That's not necessarily from more innovative software. That's from a very excellent marketing department that convinced all those people that a) Apple devices are cool, b) they really want to be cool and c) they can only be cool if they own Apple devices, d) therefore they really need an Apple device.

Yeah, marketing to the point of brainwashing/cult proportions. While the "cool" aspect is certainly there, I will have to say the OS works well and people want a trouble-free experience. It had better since they control the hardware, software, and lock the device down to any user tampering. You do have to admit it is "innovative" so much so that everyone is copying it. Google and MS are trying to control hardware/software with Nexus and Surface. On the flip side, is SIRI innovative? NOT.

I am kind of an offspring now of both worlds. My kids got me an iPhone for Christmas (mostly because at the time there were no Android phones that sparked my interest) and I enjoy it. The amount of free apps that are worth anything is almost nil in the Apple world. Most of the good stuff is Pay Pay Pay. Now, if I were to let them get me a phone, it would definitely be Android, but have to hold onto this one for two years (iPhone 4S 32GB).

Once I got my Xoom WiFi, and saw all the free stuff available as far as apps, and then found this forum, I use the Xoom a lot. There are tons of good free apps, and the ones that you do need or have to pay for are not as expensive as they are in Apple Land. My Xoom will never fully replace my laptop if I need to to a lot of work on the road, but it will always be with me in case I want it and its' nice to know it's there for a backup.

That being said.....I hope the Android makers can eventually stick it to Apple and beat all these frivolous lawsuits. If you listen to Apple, you would think they invented the bloody wheel or something. When it came time for me to get a tablet...an iPad wasn't even considered. My son got one...and he likes my Xoom.

Standards are set through marketing. IMO if you don't have a concept take hold within 6 months tops, its doomed. It'll be listed with all those second rate items.

This is the tech industry. This product, my xoom, has held a lengthy interest in my tech world. Maybe not yours. Its whatever you enjoy. Step back from hype. We all see the capabilities of our devices and life s great!

Apple doesn't innovate, it takes already perfectly working ideas and says they created them to the unknowing population who follow blindly.
