Or you maybe should have bought a net book instead, or maybe just done a bit of research before buying?
I wouldn't want windows on my tab.

not at all techy, but I'll do my best to find out!
I've wondered about this for a while, I mean, at a hardware level surely most tablets can run most software. However, I have to agree with the others - if you want a windows tablet, mortgage your home and buy one. Even if you did manage to get it working on a xoom, it will be nowhere near as good as on a tab designed to do it.

Dude I don't think you can run windows on linux kernel.
Hit the thanks button and wam it disappears ! Try it.
Even if you could install Windows on the Xoom, you wouldn't benefit from the vast library of Windows software; it's all compiled for either x86 or x86_64 type processor, not ARM. Windows 8 will be the first Windows platform to even support the ARM architecture, so those will be starting out with a lousy software economy... not to mention built-in restrictions which were enough to cause some major game companies to refer to Windows 8 as a catastrophe.
I agree with your sentiment, but not your attitude. Any software development, and especially game development, takes a lot of work, and the mobile app market is absolutely cut-throat. So, why shouldn't they give us what they want to give us? You want something else, you make it, or pay someone to make it for you. Barring that, just buy the games that do appeal to you, on the platforms that appeal to you.Has anyone ever seen any PC game (90's or 80's) yet as fun as what's even on the shelves for android now? Go back to the drawing board, folks, and look at what you're offering (for pennies) and make it a quality excursion instead of a 'We'll give you what we want' attitude. What you're offering right now needs work and windows has already delivered.
From what I have read MS is going to have two types of tablets. One type will be ARM based and run their Window mobile apps and the other will be Intel based (more expensive and heavier) and run standard Windows applications. So even if you could get the Windows mobile table software to run on your Xoom you would be limited to Windows Mobile Apps.
[when are we going to get icecreame sandwich 4.0?
I actually like the option of a lan connection to my 640gb hdd, and being able to view and use my notebook pc on my Xoom via remote
best of both, got pc total access on xoom, access to all files with drw permissions, and can do it from anywhere.
this is as close as you will get to a fully functional windows on the Xoom
what you need:
1. file manager hd (for PC lan HDD/file access)
2. splashtop remote desktop hd/splashtop streamer (for PC lan access and PC remote access)
total cost to get $9
windows Vista as shown on Xoom:

yes it can be done (using vm), and you can also run android on a pc
Install VM (virtual machine) on tablet, then get a windows .iso image ( an arm version is to be released in Oct, 2012, and will run on Xoom fluently without VM called Windows 8 RT)
Or see Guide how to install Windows 8 on tablet

Unfortunately, not going to happen unless [or until] Microsoft decides to come out with a mobile edition.
Take Care,
