Hmmm. I guess the Moto patents were Google's ulterior motive....Go get 'em Google!
Google goes after Apple via Motorola patents | Android Central

Regarding this article, the author is implying that Google is violating their own mantra of "Don't Be Evil." I don't take that sentiment away from this though. I for one am glad that Apple is being confronted on these patent issues. Not in the vindictive way that Apple has repeatedly demonstrated themselves to be in the past, but by making a stand against their controlling superiority complex. Given Apple's size and monetary resources, there are not many companies that could mount such an offense against them. Google can however, so I applaud them. Perhaps it will give Apple a moment of pause.
Some of Apple's i-products are very nice, true, but so are many of the Android-based products made by other companies. It doesn't mean I have to like, or dislike either one. Although personally I like the openness of the Android platform versus Apple's, my way or the highway mentality. Still, I think everyone should have the right to show their ability to be innovative, without fear of being crushed by an iron fist, namely Apples.
The author of the article says:
...the same might be said about someone saving for an Android Tablet. While you cheer and say Apple deserves a taste of their own medicine, I'll be here thinking of the people who might be saving to buy an iPad, only to (potentially) have the opportunity taken away -- by Google.
Don't be evil.
Unfortunately, I don't think these patent infringements will stop the juggernaut. I don't begrudge Apple being the most valuable company ever in the world. However, it should not affect me and it is. I heard that the wireless carriers were losing money subsidizing the iPhone and passed that on to consumers as an "activation" fee. In effect, I am paying $30 to help iPhone buyers out. That is wrong.
Hmm...hasn't that practice been called "dumping" and products gotten sanctioned for unfair trade practices in the past?
I also don't begrudge Apple success. However, they have been playing the schoolyard bully for too long. I think the article is a bit overdramatic. I am also thinking of the scene in A Christmas Story where Ralphie finally snaps & gives the bully Scut Farkus a well-deserved beatdown. We will see if this plays out in a similar way.

I think dumping is UNDERcutting the "standard" price to gain market share. I have never seen Apple ever do that. They charge exorbitant prices for all their stuff and don't let resellers sell it for less than 10% retail "on sale". I don't know why the wireless carriers have to price the iPhone near the rest of the competition. If people want it that much, they should pay the premium, not me.
True, and I agree with you. Want the overpriced Apple toy? Pay for it yourself.

I think it high. As an ex Motorolan I remember mother M being a believer in the junk patient philosophy (patent every thing). I worked at a design center in Florida and the yearly patent dinners were huge. I was surprised to see the Microsoft suit. My bet is Motorola will shoot back.
