4.1.1 update issue

My Canadian Xoom has been GEDified with a US ROM.

I have received two notifications that I have 4.1.1 update available, however when I attempted to update, just after it shows a
progress bar that it is updating, a quarter of the way it will show an android with a triangle, and an exclamation mark inside that triangle.

I can only recover by pressing the power button and the volume up button. I can restart my Xoom afterwards but back to 4.04.

Any ideas or anyone experienced the same thing?

My Xoom is also rooted.

Don't you have to unroot before updating?

I may read that somewhere but I was not sure. What is the easiest way to unroot?

If you're rooted you can't accept the OTA. There's a Jelly Bean rom you can flash, much better than stock.
