XOOM not CHARGING

Hey guys,

I purchased my OG xoom (AKA Nexus XOOM) the day it dropped. So far the best piece of technology i have purchased, as far as fun, functionality and updates. I remember going to the app store and there were 12 apps for tablets. Look what this Xoom started. WOW.

As of a few days ago, the xoom stopped charging. After pulling the plug from the wall and plug back in it would start charging again. I would fiddle with it unplugging and plugging about 15-20x before it would continue to take a full charge. Now it will not charge at all. I have read if you plug usb in while charging it would some how ground to enable charging? it worked once, coincidental? who knows. I just ordered the dock in hopes the pogo pins will charge my Xoom. I hope this works, while i love my nexus 7 the xoom screen is perfect for..watching content in bed.

Does anyone have an opinion? do i have good chance that this will work? the oem charger was not damaged in any way, the pin seems to seat properly. The dock will be delivered on Friday, I guess I will know then, but in the meantime, the suspense is killing me.

You might need a new charger, the chargers on the OG Xoom are a known issue.

I hate the little pin charger. I have to wiggle mine to make good contact, too. Sometimes it falls off and I don't get a full charge. I'm afraid to really push hard on it. At least the charger docks are on sale. I got an HD dock for around $25 at Newegg a while back.

+1, I never use the pin charger as I have both of the docks. Bought the standard dock back March 2011 when I bought my Xoom and got the HD dock 5 months ago for $19.99.

You should never push hard on the pin charger. It will definitely not help. Might damage it and make it worse. And the OP probably has a bad charger as grant pointed out. Usually you can tell because the prongs get reallyy hard to fold up but not always. Hopefully the dock you ordered comes with a charger though.

i agree with ggrant. i keep the original "pin" charger as a back up. i have 3 different docks that i use instead. for whatever reason, the OEM docks do not employ the pin connector to charge the xoom with and they are a load more stable. i bought a speaker dock just a couple of weeks ago to add to the "collection", lol when newegg had them on sale for 19.99.

I had the same issue a month ago. I purchased a new charger and all is well again.
