The only way I know of if you are unrooted is to use an OTG cable and the Nexus Media importer app

    Re: Using an external HardDisk

Not sure if the HDD will work .
    Afaik they need power supply.

    3.5" HDD's I believe the requirements are:
    +12V = +12V +/- 0.5 V (@ approx 2 Amps max)
    +5 V = 5 V +/- 0.25 V

Do your HDD come with standalone power supply or need to use USB Port power?

    AW: Using an external HardDisk

Yep I already use NMI and recognised the hard disk pretty good, I also can play some music. It's just that I like PowerAmp as music player and wondering if there is a way to attach the hard disk and let it be read from PowerAmp.

Edit: or at lest from Google default music player. I don't care if I have to root it, but I want to be sure that it works.

    Re: Using an external HardDisk

My WD HDD works fine for me but I am rooted. Just plug it in via otg cable and it powers up from the Xoom.

    Don't know about PowerAmp though.

I would imagine it should work. You would at least need to go into PowerAmp's settings and tell it to import the directories the music is in on the HDD. I'll have to give that a try later.

I use PowerAmp to listen to my music, MX player pro to play my movies on my WD 1tb passport (usb powered) just fine via an OTG cable. I am rooted running EOS3 nightly 155 and use NTSF helper to mount the drive, point PowerAmp and MX player at the folders and bob's your uncle, as long as the format is something the Xoom or app can read there should be no issues.
