Signed up to say 'thanks' - Now rooted w/EOS Wingray 203 :)

I've been browsing these boards for awhile, but never had the courage to actually try rooting my Xoom. Literally being locked to my room from being sick, I decided to get it a shot.

The main thread about rooting was word-for-word right on. I used post #5. It worked on the first shot. I had a couple of freezes so I decided that maybe I need an 'update' so to speak. Reading more, I decided to give GooManager a shot. THANK GOD IT INSTALLED TWRP lol. I was having all types of issues mainly with nightlies and finding the right build of GApps. The only one that I could ever get working was CM10.0. However, I wanted to move up to JB 4.2.2.

After several hours, I ran across another thread where the guy listed exactly which EOS nightly he was running along with the working build of GApps. It worked first shot!

I just wanted to thank all the people that wrote the programs, did the trial and errors, and shared their work with the community.

    Thanks!

Good fo you, my problem was taking my sweet time. I'd root it and let it reboot (reinstalling itself) , I'd just pick up at the next step when I got around to it and wonder why it wasn't working

Just today I updated from 4.12 to 4.21 only to find I had installed 4.22 (which I understood as not being
    available to the Xoom(CM10.1))

I gave EOS a try to see what it was like, 4.12 wouldn't work for me, got stuck at the Motorola screen, EOS 4.12
did work for me but I didn't care for it at all, CM has so many more tweaks, like the number of windows for one,
    I use 3, #2 the main.

EOS didn't even have all of the ring tones, but apparently it leaves you with 56 megs of system space, where CM claims I have 28.4 megs free ("clean" install).

Since you have TWRP installed it's nothing to back up your system and try another ROM, -a restore got me off of the Motorola screen, do give CM a try I think you'll appreciate the extra settings.

CM 10.1 (4.22) has security feature called "Privacy Guard" which if it works as I think does, flies in the face of
Google's TOS, no program can interfere with another's data collection and why programs like Adaway can't be
found on the play.google.com store anymore. A big !hurrah! to CM for that one.

    Luck

Edit: added the missing [ for the quote
