New Xoom/SD Card Petition

Well it seems that users from the Motorola forum have started a petition in order to get Motorola to give an official statement on a timeline for the SD Card Slot to be activated. It seems that there are many users who have tried to contact Motorola with little to no success. I am happy with my Xoom but I would like the SD Card Slot activated. But I would like Motorola to at least let us know what is going on. So I am reposting the original post and link. I have signed this but I did notice that after signing it, it looks like Ipetition.com is looking for a donation for something else but this has nothing to do with the Xoom petition itself. Just close the window.

Hi everyone....as you know there has been a great deal of discussion regarding the Xoom's capability of expandable memory via an SD card. To date the Xoom is unable to utilize the expandable memory function due to the fact that it requires a software update in order to enable this capability. Motorola has said that the software update would be available "sometime in the future". Despite the growing frustration, as evident on the forum, Motorola has not provided its customers with an official statement on the status of the issue or when they expect the software update to be available. In fact, they have not responded to consumer inquiries and requests in any official capacity. In order to try to convince Motorola to provide a simple, official response to their customers concerns an online petition has been setup.

I understand that this is not really Moto's issue, but Google's instead. I signed the petition, but we can't blame Moto for the SD slot not working. What we can blame them for is not communicating to their customers an approximate timeline for this, and other updates. We've all given Moto and Google our attention with our wallets, and a little attention from them would be nice as well.

I am not posting blame anywhere and am not wanting this thread to turn into another fighting thread over who's fault it is. The only reason I reposted this is because I feel since Moto is one of the major players they would have the best chance of getting the correct info from Google if Moto felt the pressure of the petition. Just another avenue for us to look at.

I agree with you. I didn't mean to come off sounding like "we're blaming the wrong people". Sorry about that. I had an internal conflict about signing this, and I came to the same conclusion as you...Moto has the best shot at getting the info, and they are ultimately responsible for keeping their customers informed...which they haven't at this point.

I also signed the petition. I don't know whose fault it is, but it needs to be addressed. I really like Android and Google, but the fact that they can let out such an expensive product with such a fundamental flaw/glitch/problem is not right and the situation needs to be corrected. I hope something gets done quickly.
