Ive just got my Xoom and im having issues with youtube. My problem is that my Xoom seems to take ages buffering anything. Then when it does it only plays a minute of video before needing to buffer again. My internet speed is fine on my laptop, has anyone any ideas?

I had a similar problem on my Linksys N router with my Xoom. Is your router b/g/n? Not at all sure you have the same problem, but with wireless N turned on I could only get 1.5Mbps on my Xoom, while my Droid would get 5 or so. I thought it was a joke that it would display the HD youtube vids so nice, but it would take 20 minutes to load it up.

As a last ditch effort, I tried turning Off the wireless-N mode and just set it to b/g and all the sudden I get 13.5Mbps and YouTube is awesome. Even when I'm on the other side of the house and only getting 11Mbps (according to Xoom), Youtube still loads pretty quickly.

So something was wrong with the combo of my Linksys WRT150N router and the Xoom. Not sure what, but I assume maybe my router had poor-to-mediocre wireless-N support.

Hope that helps in some way...

I've checked my router and it only has g and b mode. The only alteration I can make is having it on g and b mode (which it is already) or just g mode only.

I still currently have the protective sticker type material on my Xoom, as I wanted to wait until I got a case before I took it off, could this be interfering with the WiFi signal?

No it won't have any effect on the signal. One thing to make note of is that some homes have EMI in different areas and sometimes can affect wifi signal.

One thing you can try is changing the channel that your router is broadcasting it's signal from. If I remember correctly default for most routers is 6. Try 10.

change your router settings, especially the channel. this is most likely the cause of your buffer issue

That seems to have sorted it thanks, my channel was set to 1 so I switched it to 10.

On a different note I charged my Xoom all night and when I've checked it this morning the battery is only on 54%.

I think i've got a dud Xoom here and it might be going back. Last night I charged it and a white LED came on now when I try and charge it no light is coming on but if I leave the Xoom on while I charge the battery symbol in the bottom right seems to think its being charged. Plus just having it on for 10 minutes and watching a couple of youtube clips knocked the battery down 2%.

Hmm it would appear my charger is dead, checking the charge indicator on the Xoom it doesn't seem to be increasing, plus the charger is completely cold. I'd expect the main power pack section of it to be warm now, especially as its been on all night.
