If its stock update then we flash in android recovery. I want to see if this is for root users.

If you got the rooted Xoom, this should work.

Buyer beware on this one until we have confirmation! Sounds promising though.

That was for the last update. Could be same procedure but could also be slightly different.

So I did my fully rooted with ClockWork and Tiamat 1.4.1 Wifi Only Xoom to the released 3.1 for Wifi (make sure you get the correct one).

You need the cable from the Camera Connection Kit and a USB thumb drive (or the $2 OTG cable if you managed to find one that actually works).

If you have done the deed to your Xoom you need to re-stock it with fastboot flash boot, system, recovery. The only way into recovery on the Wifi model is via adb reboot recovery. When you get the green android with the ! belly button unplug your USB cable to your adb and plug in your OTG cable with a thumb drive with the update.zip on it. Click the up volume and power button into the blue recovery and then update from the USB drive. Reboot and enjoy the gooey goodness of Honeycomb++

No data is wiped but you lose your Tiamat kernel, SDCARD slot (no SDCARD even in Android 3.1!!!) and no super user. So far I haven't been able to get the Google Movies to work either. But all the other goodies are working.

Different bootloader means issues for root users. Should've waited for a root solution. Updates not worth me losing SD access.

You can update and not lose root. It is on the XDA forums.
