    Why only 32 Gigs?

This is a general question for all tablets, why only 32/64 gigs? Would it really increase the price that much to put in a decent amount like at least 100gigs, or is it a battery life issue? Just not sure why they went with a low amount.

I think it comes down to precedent and the cost of hardware. Apple set a standard with the first iPad allowing other vendors to follow suit keeping their devices at a certain price point.

It's certainly more of a cost issue as solid state storage is light on power. With cloud storage options, official SD card use enabled and OTG USB Host Mode for external storage, I don't see this being a huge issue to me. Anyone's else agree?

I do. Not like I want to story a whole video library on this thing. Well not really....

The issue is standard harddrives which can be huge like 1000gb vs ssd. Standard hardrivescan be huge But there is one drawback they have moving parts. The harderives used in xooms and ipads are SSD. Or solid state drives. No moving parts and they are darn expensive..

Xoom could have a 1 TB hardrive (1000gb) but I don't think anyone wants to pay for that...

Even a 100gb one would be horrendously pricey..

That makes sense, with the MicroSD card working it doesnt matter much to me as I can just buy a few 16 or 32 gig cards but I was just curious why everyone goes with 32.

This isn't an engineering issue it's a marketing issue. You have to hit price points where people are willing to part with their money for the perceived benefit, something Motorola has failed at with the Xoom so far. You have to limit the number of SKU codes as retailers only have so much shelf space and flooring to finance inventory with.

And then you have inventory control. As the price of the device goes up the need to increase security over the inventory goes up along with it.

And then finally there is the safety at the end user level as the price goes up. Right now I use my G-Slate on the bus to Kindle, partly because it isn't an Ipad 2 that someone would kill me for but instead one of the "wanna be" Google tablets no one wants to kill you for. That nice big stainless steel Google plate on the back of the G-Slate makes me feel better using it in public.

Has anyone actually completely filled a 32GB tablet? I find it pretty hard considering I also have a desktop, laptop, and iPod for music.
