Xoom turns off if I press the upper left corner of it....

    Hey all,

I have a new Xoom, and Love it - however, I noticed that if I press (or pinch with my fingers, rather) the upper left corner of the table, it will turn the screen off (and back on as well) - just as if I had pressed the power button which is a few inches away....

Is this normal? A known issue?

    Thanks,

    Matt!

Not normal, not a known issue, been on these forums for a while and have never seen anyone mention anything like this. You may have a defective product, perhaps take it back to the store, show them the behavior, and exchange it?

    Superbike...

Thanks. Does anyone have one in front of them that they can verify? Press about 1/2" away from the power button toward the corner.... I just want to triple check before I swap it (they have one left, and are holding it for me).

    Thanks again,

    Matt!

Interesting, ok, mine does it too since I took it out of the case. Now I'm guessing it's probably a design flaw, the contact for the power button is probably right there, and with these tablets being so thin, everything is very close, and when you squeeze on that area, the screen turns off.

Does this happen to you often? Perhaps look into a case? I've got the Motorola Portfolio Case (many people don't like it, but I really like it) amd I can't make it happen no matter how hard I try when it's in the case.

    Superbike,

I bought a case similar to yours - just the leather version. It has never happened on accident - and I don't see it ever being an issue. I was just verifying that it wasn't something exclusively wrong with my particular unit. Thanks for verifying, and I hope I didn't give anyone a complex...haha.

    Thanks again,

    Matt!

Yeah, same thing happens to mine
Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.

You have to do it in just the right spot. Put your finger on the on/off button and slide it to the left just a little bit away from the button, even light pressure right there turns the screen on and off.
