I use NTFS Mount to mount drives. They show up in the mnt/usbOTG folder, as well as another folder in that directory that I don't remember the name of. I use File Manager HD for browsing folders and just have to hit the 'Up' button once to find the usbOTG folder.
thanks for that i have successfully mounted a usb hdd.

And is NTFS Mount an App?
I searched Market and all that came up was a "USB Mountz all" that obviously just got posted out there, because so far there are 0 downloads
Ntfs mount is an app but its an apk. You need to be rooted to use it, same with file managers, well some of them.
My question is can the xoom format my hdd back to FAT 32?
i have no idea if you can change file system in a format on the xoom.

one more problem i run into.was finding a player that would actually let you navigate.to find the exact folder where things are located.i can say tiny player is capable of doing this.
edit:music based player that is rock player has this feature for videos.
