LOL You had a back and forth? My evil side beat the angel down and screamed at me "What in the heck are you waiting for!" It was about as one sided as a discussion on shoes with a woman.

I have two XOOM's, one is rooted, the other is not. When I first rooted my XOOM it was to overclock it to achieve a faster snappier OS because it was lagging and crashing frequently.

Rooting helped eliminate all lag at first, but after a day or so it slowed to a crawling nightmare. Truth be told the speed issue was from using Live Wallpapers. After switching to a normal wallpaper the lag was gone as long as I close any game out correctly and don't just leave it running in the background. Cordy is a great example of this.

IMO the only reason to root is to overclock for speed (which in reality is not needed unless you're counting frames in games) to delete some locked apps or to take advantage of some of the neat root only apps available.
Rooting makes it possible to overclock the CPU for the XOOM to run faster (up to 50%), rooting also makes it possible to uninstall and delete apps and games that are locked, makes it possible to install apps that capture screenshots.

If you don't use Live Wallpaper & close all games out rather than just going to another app, the XOOM will run MUCH faster and snappier to commands with less errors and app crashing without the need for rooting and overclocking. Just my opinion on the subject.
