Hello,
I would like to buy a Xoom but I am disabled and cannot use my hands/fingers to manipulate the touch screen. Are there any eye tracking devices that would afford me the ability to use the Xoom?

Hello,

Welcome to the forums.
I think it is possible to create an application for android devices that has a front facing camera that would track your eyes. I am not sure if there is available, you might have to check the android market.
I looked in the market and there appears to be no app. It sucks that these devices are not disabled friendly.
They'll get there. These things are still in their infancy, but I doubt it'll take long.![]()

Hi. As a matter of fact I'm disabled, I'm a C-5 incomplete quad using a Xoom and loving it. Thumb Keyboard is amazing for typing. Depending on how little or much hand movement you have, you can also use a stylus. My fingers don't work for the most part but I can use my thumbs for most everything. My left hand is much better off than my right as a result of my injury so I can hold things. I have one that my occupational therapist retrofitted with this plastic stuff to make it thicker. I'd gladly take a picture of it if you'd like. If you can't hold it I'm sure you could find some way to manipulate it? I was worried about using a lot of things and the Xoom has absolutely liberated me. I even use it as a mous and keyboard for my computer! Let me know if you have any questions.
ChelseaBlue,
Thanks for the insight. I can use my left hand to manipulate my touchpad on my laptop. Please take a picture. I don't think a stylus would work bc I can't hold it.
Here's the stylus I use. I got it to practice my hand writing, actually on the Xoom with a paint app. For the most part tenodesisis what allows me to hold the stylus. Depending on your the extent of your situation, I'm sure that with a little practice it could work for you, it took me a little while at first.
If you don't mind, whats your disability?
But like I said I've gotten to the point where my thumbs do everything.

The stylus will not work for me. My disability is FSH, a form of MD.
Hmmm I see. Perhaps something along the lines of this?
I got this from my hospital to help me press keyson a keyboard and use my old pressure sensitive phone.
This was altered so I could use our touchscreen computer. It was originally bent but we straightened it a little. The particular tip on it won't work on the Xoom but I figure a stylus could be attached some how. the foam piece I had added is to protect my fingers from the plastic as the sides felt sharp to my fingers (hypersensitivity)
Perhaps something this could be thrown together to help you out?
Does not look like that will work. Eye control is the best option but none exist.
