Thanks for the info. I guess I will hold out a bit then. Odd that it wipes with just gaining superuser access. I have come to expect that on most roms, but not just rooting.
Its not the rooting that wipes it initially, its the unlocking that does.

I am now ROOTED! Thanks to everyone with all the excellent help in here. I was able to go through the thread and get my Xoom rooted.
