    [How To] Factory Reset

Use in the event that you need to factory reset but cannot access your home screen

    Option 1-

    1. Start with the Xoom off, then press Power to turn it on.

    2. When the Motorola logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down button until you see text appear in the upper-left corner of the screen.

    3. Press Volume Up. The Android logo should appear with a yellow triangle.

    4. Press and hold the Power button, then press Volume Up.

    5. Press the Volume down key to highlight wipe data/factory reset.

    6. Press Power to make the selection.

    7. Press the Volume Down key to highlight Yes —delete all user data.

    8. Press Power.

    9. Select reboot system now then press the Power button.

    Option 2-

If your unlocked and rooted, go to fastboot screen and run:

    Fastboot oem unlock

    Fastboot reboot

As to option 1, this doesn't work on all zooms, including y wifi Xoom. Moto will not say why many Xooms are this way. The factory reset in the Settings/Privacy/factory reset option works. My Xoom was acting upquite a bit and this fixed it.

The issue lately is that some people had been plagued with fc's and have not been able to access the home screen.

For some reason not all xooms have android recovery which is really weird. I suppose an update could fix that.

Not sure about the first option with the wifi xoom. However I think you should still be able to boot into fastboot via adb.

HI there folks. I have a MZ605 (WIFI + quadband 3G) and my Xoom hangs after booting (on the PIN input). It seems to be working but the screen won't respond. Tried softreset, no luck. Tried hardreset and surprise! no android recovery (I can get the fastboot, but pressing vol up won't bring android recovery).

Are there any ways of factory reseting my Xoom without the key combinations (eg. getting into fastboot and issuing a command)?

No there isn't. What do you mean the pin screen? Where you enter your google account info? What were you doing when this happened.
