    Unhappy Failed ROOT I

Hey folks. I was wondering these forums last copula days and decided to join. Last week i got my 3G Xoom (MZ601 Norway) and i wanted to root it. After several hours trying to figure out and understand all segments of this frustrating process i came all way to the end but with no success.

Here is a list of things i tried:

    1. I was starting of with this guide:How To: Install ADB and Fastboot on your Windows computer for use with your Android phone | Android Articles | dotTech and [How To] Root the International/NonUS Motorola Xoom 3G (GSM)

    F
irst step was painless. reboot + unlock and my xoom was formatted. After a reboot everything worked fine.
Now after second step i started to get nervous. I started with rooting , booted boot.img and fastboot reboot. Device restarted itself and after this i was stuck on M logo. I could restart device manually with power button and volume up but it ended in same result. I thought this is how it should be so i tried to proceed with rooting. I went on remount and i pushed bcm4329 to modules. I did have some difficulties with windows recognizing my xoom each time device reboots but in the end i figured out i just need to wait a minute or two for device to be ready.

I continued with pushing files to right directions according to the guide until final step where i was suppose to install CWM. While i was working on adb/sdk my xoom was still stuck on M logo all the way to the end but it responded on every command from my cmd. I was looking at this guide : [HOW TO] Use ClockWorkMod Recovery (backup/restore/update.zip) Obviously i couldn't flash CWM trough room manager since i couldn't access apps on device( still stuck on M logo) but i flashed manually trough adb/sdk. After that was done i adb reboot recovery and i was on CWM screen.

Than i found this guide: [Root] Universal Xoom Root - ANY XOOM ANY UPDATE . I tried to install xoom universal zip but again with no luck. Device accepts the file and restarts but still stuck on M logo. I even tried to flash Tiamat but no luck.

I was forced to relock my device and return it to factory settings which went without any problems. I would appreciate if someone could help my find out what i did wrong and how i can root my device properly. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.Glad you decided to join us. After you flashed the recovery when using the buttons to reboot your Xoom, once your screen starts to go dark you need to start tapping the volume down button until you see recovery in the upper left of your screen, once you see recovery you tap the volume up button to enter recovery and flash your root.zip.

    Thank you for fast replay

I flashed Tiamat-R4c-100611-1150-cwm.img as my last attempt. I entered into recovery mode with volume down and than up. I also installed xoom universal root.zip that was provided with the guide but still when i restart xoom it wont pass M logo.

Another member had the same problem, we tried wipes in recovery and the only thing that worked was flashing the Moray 2.2.1 Rom. If you chose to go this route you will need to wipe your cache partition and wipe data/factory reset and in advanced wipe your dalvik cache before you flash the rom.

I see. i will give it a try.
Since i am not expert in rooting devices there are some things i want to know before i make this second attempt.
-Is it normal to have xoom stuck on M logo after you oem unlock it?
-Is this right order of acctions in rooting process:
    1.
    Code:
    adb reboot bootloader
    fastboot oem unlock
    2.
    Code:
    adb reboot bootloader
    fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot reboot (once android starts proceed to the next command)
adb remount adb push bcm4329.ko /system/lib/modules
    adb reboot
    3.

    Code:
    adb remount
    adb push su /system/bin/suadb
    shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/suadb
    shell ln -s /system/bin/su /system/xbin/suadb
    push Superuser.apk /system/app/
    adb reboot
    4.

    Code:
    adb reboot bootloader
    fastboot flash 3.2.0.0-R4C.img
    1. Download the 2.2 rom zip file and place it on your external sdcard
    2. Restart into Recovery
    3. Perform a nandroid backup, and keep this safe!
    4. Perform a factory reset within recovery (Wipe data / factory reset)
    5. Install the rom
    - If this is not right way to do it please correct me.

What version Honeycomb is your Xoom? If it's 3.2.1 that's the wrong guide.

I forgot to post my hc version. Its 3.0.1 with option to upgrade to 3.1.1 on startup. Right now i have relocked device on its original factory settings MZ601 3.0.1 . if there is nothing else to add to the guide i will start with rooting shortly.
ps. is there an option to wipe dalvik chache before i flash on CWM or manually trough sdk???
