Getting to a Shared Folder on my Network

Forgive me if this is posted somewhere but I have not located it by the normal search and maybe I am just not searching correctly.

I have tried multiple file managers (ASTRO & ES File Explorer) where those apps had some type of network capabilities. Right now I am trying to using ES File Explorer. I can do a search and it finds my network computers but when I try to login using my credentials I am getting an “network path not found please try again”. When I manually type in the actual shared location I get the same error. The folder is setup with my user name for the permissions and security and I can connect via my other computer with no issues just not my XOOM.. Does anyone know of a way/process to be able to connect to a shared folder on a network computer via the XOOM? I have also tried using my DROID in the past but have just given up on it and moved forward.

If there is no way then please let me know.

I do it just fine with es file explorer, in es file explorer try doing add then hit scan and you should see an IP of your PC pop up then enter username etc and it should work.
Infact it connects to all folders not just shared

Hum, I am doing that and did the manual way still an error, cannot find server.. I am using Windows 7 64 bit. Could that be an issue? I even turned off the anti virus and firewall...same results...

I'm on vvista .. you say other PC's on network can find and access it right?
One other obvious thing,but have to ask, yourre on wifi and not 3g right?
Other than that you could try opening a port but I'm not sure why its not working ..

Ok here is the deal. I created a new account on my PC and did not use any numbers/special char in the password. This worked. ES File Explorer cannot handle any special char in the password. Kinda wierd but at least I know the issue now. Thanks for the link and Help.

Do not use in a password with ES File Explorer:

On a different note, did you try to copy a video file (not stream) ? It usually gets to about 2 % for me then says it failed
