home screen "+" sign missing

recently purchased and upgraded to 4.0.4......while trying to learn how to use the xoom, i discovered that one should hit the + sign in the upper right hand corner to make adjustments to the home pages...the problem is, that + sign is nowhere to be found....i have the app symbol up there, but no plus sign...is there a way to get it back or a work around? thank you, this is my first post and i am not a high tech guy by any means......

4.0.4 doesn't have that, if you try a different launcher such as ADW Ex you'll be able to do what you're looking for.
