Root first or install CWM first?
So the title sums up my debate.
I had some issues with my Xoom's behavior (mz602 -Verizon 4g LTE and wifi, Build IMM76L, Android version 4.0.4) and decided I was simply going to install a custom ROM, ideally Jellybean.
I manually unlocked the bootloader b\c I couldn't get LordAIOTool to successfully do it.
After I unlocked it, I decided I'd try to use the AIO tool again to install CWM...but I got 2 errors.
failed on /system/etc/install-recovery.sh - Read Only file system
failed on /system/etc/recovery-from-boot.p - Read Only file system
So now I figured I'd might as well manually continue on my way. I'm just not clear on which to do first...root or install CWM. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Read this thread. Using any tool to root the Xoom is the easiest way to end up with a brick.

That looks like it just might be exactly what I need. I'm on ICS but want to flash a JB ROM if there is a stable one available. Thank you for the quick reply! I plan on trying this tonight. This is my first time being hands on with the Android system so I still have that fear factor of working with the command line stuff. But I'm getting more comfortable with it.
