I tried both PPTP and LPSec PSK and cannot get either one to connect to my work VPN. I know the passwords, etc are correct because I have Windows and Mac units configured with them.

Android has an incomplete implementation of IPSEC. Most annoying to me is that even in Honeycomb 3DES encryption isn't supported. It's been on Google's Todo list (database) for a long, long time now. The only way I get my Samsung Galaxy S phone or XOOM to connect is by dumbing down the VPN security to DES from 3DES. Unacceptable! One of the few things IMO that Apple's iDevices do better. They work with my company's VPN without issue. My XOOM is for personal use but sadly it could never been used at my company for this reason at least.

Damn ok. That explains why I can't build a tunnel to one of my Junipers.

I can live without it just hate having to need a client installed on a box to get to it from outside.

Well that explains the issues on the IPSEC side. Not on the PPTP issue though :-/ I really would have liked to be able to use my Xoom for quick login/fixes for work.

I've been forced to use PocketCloud. It works I just hate having to allow another port through the firewall and install a client on the target machine(s).

Sadly, that's not an option for me. My network admin would have a cow, LOL! Plus I have well over 100 machines I could have need to connect to.

I am VPN'd in right now with my Xoom using IPSEC/L2TP with 3DES-CBC/HMAC-SHA1 and its working fine. Issue tickets with google is that it doesn't support plain IPSEC without l2tp as implemented by cisco and others.

We do use Cisco here so that would additionally explain things. I guess I am just stuck without until either Google makes PPTP work or another VPN app comes along that doesn't run off of the stock Google one.

Are there instructions on how the stock PPTP vpn is set up on the Xoom? I have set it up, but the settings don't seem to stay. I have set it up on laptops and smartphones, but the menu on the xoom is quite different. I have a very basic level of encrytion on a remote data logger using pptp and want to check it with my Xoom Wi-Fi.
