Wifi signal strong but no internet

Have a problem connecting with my home WIFI and the XOOM , my laptop is connected via WIFI , my wifes BlackBerry is Connected and working perfectly but my XOOM tablet gets the connection but when trying to browse the web page has an error , tried my closet WIFI Hotspot and worked perfectly , what settings does my home router or wireless have so my XOOM can connect to the Internet?

It could be worth checking your encryption - but if you're connected then encryption is probably OK.

The problem I had, which sounds like yours, is that the Xoom seems not to be fully compatible with DHCP on some routers. If this is the case for you then you should set it up with static IP information instead. If your routet supports it, this is best done by setting a static reservation on the router and using that address as your static IP, together with the required additional info.

I found (and you can try it) that the laptop would respond to 'pings' from other devices on the network and could connect to them but wouldn't access the Internet at all, even without requiring DNS - this implies that the XOOM DHCP client isn't picking up the gateway info from the DHCP server.
