Question sandisk usb drive xoom does'nt like it!!

Plugged this drive into the xoom, it's the cruzer titanium usb drive, the xoom seems unable to power it up the blue led on the drive does not come on, I contacted Sandisk help centre and they say it appears that as the light is not on then it is likely that the xooms usb socket does not have enough power to run it

QUESTION.... what types of usb drives will he tablet run??

I,m a bit miffed that the machine can nt run a pretty basic stick drive, anyone know of a work round that would get the thing running??

If I do need to by a other usb stick any recommendations??
I,m UK based by the way

    Thanks JohnO

What format is it partitioned to? If it is NTSF you may need to install Mount.apk from the Hacking section to mount/unmount it. If it is FAT then it should recognize it if you are on 3.1 with the OTG cable.

not sure of the format, used it with my pc running windows xp, would have thought it would have powered up though even if wrong file format. Its a uk bought xoom and I have not tweaked it so am I right in thinking that means it,s unrooted?

If its not lighting up it won't work. Even if you had the wrong cable and it was NTFS it should still light up. Take a look at getting a micro SD card and reader. That way once the micro SD card is enabled you can just pop it in there and get another one.

And yes you absolutely need root. But even without root it should still light up.

Same here.... I haven't tried reformatting it to NTFS but it doesn't work with straight up FAT32.

I think there is more than meets the eye here with the Sandisk Cruzers.... from what I recall it has its own built in software and that might be getting in the way. All my "less intelligent" usb drives work but this cruzer seems to just be a sore loser.

@OP: As far as thumb drives go the Cruzer is one of the more complex implementations. I will have to do my homework to remind myself what exactly does!

Mine lights up... it even transitions from blinking to solid light. It still is not visible on the Xoom.

When you receive 3.1 it should work fine. To see which format it is plug it into your computer, browse to My Computer, right click te drive and select Properties. It will tell you there.

That was my line of thinking as well. I have had issues with Cruizers on regular computers.

Stock 3.1 won't help him read it. He needs root. And even then it doesn't look like it will work.

thanks for the replie,s looks like I have to wait for 3.1. Don't forget though we get treated like second class citizens here in the UK, it could take months before we see an update!!
