Any way to do a backup before unlocking?

I rooted but went back to stock in anticipation of the update (before I learned I didn't need to). Having my Xoom reformatted every time is needless to say inconvenient. Once the SD card slot is enabled, is there a way for nme to backup my Xoom while unrooted so I can restore after unlocking?

I think most apps that make backups (ex. titanium) require root.

Only some apps can make backups of their data. Example: I use cashflow to handle my accounts and I can backup within the app. If you want a complete device backup with data you will need to he rooted.

Devs will always have a way to do it they do not want to have to redo everything either. I learned this with my Droid X

I was wondering if it was possible to use adb to copy some img files off the Xoom before unlocking and put them back after unlocking with the purpose of retaining the data and customizations (like launcher icon placement, browser bookmarks, etc). If not I am waiting until the SD card works and a good backup option exists before I bite the bullet and erase everything one more time.

Sounds like it could work in theory but im too much if an adb noob to say it could or might work. But ya just wait for sd support. Even then if it doesn't come before the 4g upgrade you'll be out of luck cuz we have to wipe our devices prior to sending them in. Hopefully they'll find a better way though.

You could probably do that but with the SBF you have a full copy of the base install anyway. Once you HAVE root it is EASY to backup everything.
