Verizon Waiving $35 Activation Fee on Month-to-Month Motorola XOOM Data Plans?

There has been a lot of talk about the lack of a $35 activation fee on the new iPad 2 from Verizon when we all know that customers looking to grab a Motorola XOOM are being forced to pay one. Doesn’t seem all that fair, right? Well Verizon it appears (at least their indirect retailers), is trying to cool the situation by waiving that activation fee for the time being. Customers who pick up the XOOM and its real tablet operating system will see a $35 activation fee on their bill, but right next to it will be a credit cancelling it out. Thanks Verizon.

Yes! I called a few days ago and got my activation fee waived. No hassle at all.

Edit; Whoops !! I just rechecked my statement, and the $35 for the activation fee was not credited back to me So, I called back and it will appear plus the adjustment for the taxes on my next bill. I will be checking more closely ;o)

The paper bill went out before I called for the adjustment. However, when I called back to double check .. the automated balance did not reflect that overage. So, I connected with a human and had her check it over and also let her know that iPad buyers were not charged an activation fee, and that charging Xoom buyers is unfair. I also told her that I did donate $10 to Red Cross, which will show up on the next bill. I did write a bunch of notes to myself as a reminder. Gettin' old is hell on the memory lol

^^ Call back! ^^ Yes they will, and remind them that an activation fee was not applied to iPad buyers, not fair to do that to Xoom buyers.
