Ice Cream Sandwich Update for Motorola XOOM WiFi Project Testers Rolling Out Now

Here is some exciting news for Xoom owners... Motorola has begun pushing a new update out to the Xoom for users in the soaktest, and it isn't just a series of bug fixes and feature improvements like a typical update. This is the full on Android 4.0/Ice Cream Sandwich update! Soon, these lucky folks will be running with the latest and greatest from Google, and then, barring any big issues, they will be sending it out OTA for everyone else too! It won't be long now!

Manual updating can be done now. The official upgrade is on the Google servers:

    http://android.clients.google.com/pa...D.71a21bfe.zip

Put the zip file on a flash drive connected by an OTG cable and boot into recovery mode to install. It doesn't wipe any data.

Awesome, I've been waiting for this. I haven't been brave enough to wipe my data and re-install everything for the custom rom. I'll give it a go when I get home.

Ok, I got the zip file and went into recovery and tried to install it but it aborted. I even did factory reset, wiped cache and dalvik cache, but the install would not work.

    Any ideas?

Well... look at my sig... hehe. Sorry didn't know you needed to be stock. But if I'm stock, how do I install it? I tried to do it on my g/f's stock Xoom and I can't find a way to get it in there.

I know you can install .apk files with adb, but what about this zip file?

You should be able to put the update.zip file on the SD, boot into stock recovery and install update.zip

    Ok thanks, I'll try that.

Alright, I put the zip file on the SD card and booted into Android Recovery. I clicked "apply update from USB drive" and it said "E: failed to mount /sdcard (No such file or directory)"

Should I have wiped cache or anything first? I don't know what to do at this point.

So, for those of us that are too dumb to do such a manual update, when will we be provided with the regular update the one click method?
