Motorola XOOM Update [Discussion Thread]

A Motorola XOOM update will be made available tomorrow that brings a bunch of fixes to the device including Bluetooth support on Google Talk and for a mouse, proxy support, and a new picture transfer protocol.

*Note – No need to freak out and worry about backtracking your rooted XOOM just yet. Once the update is out, we can probably expect someone to grab the file and then someone to find away to flash it. And if you’ve simply unlocked your device, then you should be able to receive the update without issue.

Text of Specific Verizon Wireless and Motorola update:

Web Browsing and Data Access
+ Access and stay connected to Wi-Fi networks with added Proxy support.
+ SSL data transfer with websites is now supported.
+ WPA Pre-Shared Key pass-phrases are now supported when using the device as a Mobile Hotspot.
+ Supports Google Widevine DRM and HDCP.

Email and Messaging
+ POP3 HTML emails will display in their entirety.

Call Features
+ Bluetooth® is now supported in Google Talk™.

Additional Device Features
+ Encrypted passwords can be entered during power up.
+ Calendar events will remain up to date after an installed software update.
+ Application storage errors will not appear unless the device has reached maximum storage capacity.
+ Safely dock the MOTOROLA XOOM into the docking adapter without interruption.
+ Ability to add and use a Bluetooth mouse.
+ A shortcut key for the Bluetooth keyboard has been added.
+ View and import pictures from digital cameras with Picture Transfer Protocol.
+ When using the device in accessibility mode, menus will no longer prompt with sounds.

So that means with BT mouse support we get a mouse cursor?

Well, I would assume the cursor would only be there when the mouse is connected, not there all the time...

I am really looking forward to the new BT features. I wonder how long this will take to get for those of us with wifi only xooms..

Also curious about the dock "issue", what would that be referring to? Is the wifi connection issue related to the 3G models only? I don't have any problems with my wifi....

The mouse puts us on par with the Asus so that's nice. How about the browser and keyboard issues?

That should be at the top of the list... Course this looks like a Moto update and not a Google update.

I would say wifi models will get the update pretty quickly as there is no carrier approval.
