It's best to convert them but Mobo Player played all of mine before I converted them.

if you have decided to convert your avi files, i recommend you using Foxreal video converter, which is professional in converting videos, it supports a wide range of video formats. Meanwhile, also supplies many xoom special presets to make your operation much easier, you may try it!

I have had success with moboplayer as well, but was wondering if anyone had an opinion on which format worked best? I've heard mp4 version h.264 is used a lot, but even still there are different resolutions and such

i use the default settings on dvdcatalyst for conversion for a XOOM and have never had a problem.

I, too, am able to use mobo to play avi files but was wondering if converting it to a specific mp4 resolution would provide better or similar playback results.

If not, I'll continue using the default formats instead of converting

to be honest, i haven't notice any appreciable difference (i have tested the same movie converted via dvdcatalyst and in .avi format both loaded to my sdhd card at the same time), but i'm not a perfectionist either. i would think perhaps a difference might be noticable the larger the screen you view it on.
