    Theming has comenced!

I see theres themes currently available for the Xoom on XDA, both wifi and 3G versions, but they're not really for me, so I'm doing my own. Already successfully made the lock circle and battery indicator different colors thru the framework... I'm just glad I got this successful!! Will be continuing to do a full theme (gotta do a TB first). Any ideas or suggestions let me know.

Power to Android!! (SD slot is already working thru the Tiamet kernel 1.3)

Care to elaborate how you themed the lock circle? I am unfamiliar with frameworks. Themeing to date for me has been strictly for the iPhone.

Yea man... To get it out of the way, I'm on WinXp using 7Zip, and I / XoomForums.com are not responsible for anything that happens to your machine(s) while doing this, you assume all risk and responsibility.

    • Pull this file thru Root Explorer: /system/framework/framework-res.apk
    • Copy it to the internal sd card (I have a folder called Root, may want to create another callled StockAPKs)
    • Plug it in and copy that file to your computer
    • In explorer, right click > hover on 7 zip > "Open Archive"
    • The lock screen files are in /res/drawable-xlarge-mdpi
    • copy those to another folder, and they will be extracted
    • Edit as you please.
    • Open the archive again, and copy the edited .pngs in to the archive thru 7zip (it will overwrite)
    • Copy the newly modified framework-res.apk to your Xoom, I would not overwrite the file in "StockAPKs", just in case something goes wrong you can go back to that file.
    • Copy that new framework-res.apk in to /system/framework/ (mounting as R/W if you haven't done so)
    • If it doesn't reboot on it's own in 30 seconds, hold the power buitton down and power off (It has never rebooted on its own with me)
    • Power back up and you should see your new lock screen, along with any other images you decided to manipulate

The file SystemUI.apk is in the /system/app/ folder which also has some core graphics you may want to manipulate.

I'm gonna be playing with red and black/grey. My first will be turning anything stock blue or green into a red or blood red color, and I'll see how I do from there.

The analog clock is in /system/app/DeskClockGoogle.apk... I think you'll find what you're looking for in res/drawable-mdpi

cooool. Thanks man! Im also a little concerned on signing the new .apk Ive downloaded the appropriate files but last time i tried to replace the systemUI.apk I got all kinds of errors. Not sure why. But let me ask you this if its not correctly signed will it immeadiately reject replacing the file or would it still copy and replace in rootexplorer? I would possibly like to share this with others so i figure i will need to get this down as well. Thanks again!

All kinds of errors? I only got one pop-up when I copied over the SystemUI.. and it quickly vanished. I know it's supposed to force-close, and you have to manually reboot (no waiting on it to reboot itself). There's no signing that I'm aware of, I guess it's too early in the Xoom/3.0 stage; either that or the sig stays in tact when I overwrite files thru 7zip, which I couldn't tell ya how it's done (I set it up once as standard, and I've never had a problem with it)

I'm taking instructions from bignadad at XDA with his theme thread (here)
