Fat 32 Or NTFS For External SD Card

I want to put a video on my external SD card, but it is over 4GB in size. I tried splitting it, but must have not used the right "free" program. I then tried formatting the SD card with NTFS. That didn't work either. Can Xoom read SD card formatted NTFS? Any suggestions appreciated.

The issue is your file size and the SDcard format is Fat32.

First off, how big is your movie file size in relation to your sd card? That big a file might be better on your internal memory

The movie size is about 4.2GB. I get an error message when I try to put it on the SD card, which has plenty of free space. I read that a FAT 32 file cannot except a file over 4GB, so that is the problem. I understand that I could put it on the internal SD card if I wanted to. However, I would like to learn how to put it and others over 4GB on external cards. As I said in the orginal post I tried a file splitter but probably didn't do it right. I also tried formatting the SD card NTFS and putting the movie on it successfully, but the Xoom appeared not to recognize the external card when I did that.

    Hey folk,,

first make a back up of your all data before you do so as you say here. During the conversion of the file system, if your file system be corrupt then what will you do? That time you will lose your all data that stores in your memory stick. So it is suggested that you have to make a back up of your data.

If your file system will corrupt during the conversion of file system then you can use Stellar Phoenix fat ntfs recovery tool that will certainly help you to recover the file system and all the files.

The Xoom only sees an SD card that has been formatted using FAT 32. exFAT 32 or NTFS will not be recognized by the XOOM. And with Ice Cream Sandwich you have to touch the up arrow screen and then choose External1 to see the contents of your SD card. Choosing External SD card from the main menu fails. Yes, it is a bug in Astro.
