    Video on TV via HDMI

What are people experiences when outputting video via HDMI? At the moment I am using a cable which is defective and cuts out when its moved, but when it does work the picture it produced on my TV isn't brillant. Even playing Blue Ray rips I get a sort of patch work effect of lines if I get up close to the TV.

Works pretty well for me. I think it might not be a defective HDMI cable though, as I have had the same problem with 2 other cables. It seems no matter what cable I try, the Xoom's port just doesn't hold it in very well. As long as I don't move it around though it's fine. Quality wise, I see the "patch-work" as you call it as well, but it doesn't bother me much. I'm not using my Xoom for serious movie watching anyways, I've got an HTPC for that. But I brought a monitor into work with an HDMI input that I connect my Xoom too on long weekend 12hr work shifts like the one I'm on now.

Seeing the "patch-work" on both screens make me think it's something with the graphics chip itself instead of the quality of the LCD panel on the Xoom. I dunno for sure though.

Thanks for the reply, thats put my mind at rest as I thought my Xoom might be defective.

This morning I ordered a new cable after getting a refund for the old one. 5 minutes after ordering it another cable was delivered by the postman. It turns out that even though the company I got the original from had sent me a refund for the defective cable, they also sent me a replacement one out. This one actually worked, so it was a case of third time lucky!

I see no issues with the picture quality. Nevetheless, regard that Xoom only outputs 720p which is interpolated by the TV. Maybe that's the source of artefacts you see.
My HDMI cable (cheap hongkong one) has a strong hold in the Xoom HDMI port. However, with only 1,5meter cable lenght I can't make exercises with the Xoom while it's connected to the TV anyway.
The only issue that I have is the flat sound .

    Hi all,

Well I watch all of my live or catch up TV as well as downloading and watching my downloaded avi US TV shows through my Xoom on my 21.5" Dell HD monitor by using the Motorola micro HDMI to HDMI cable and the picture quality is great I have even watched a couple of 720p movies and they were perfect to. For sound I am using the 3.5m audio out port on the monitor into my JBL powered sub woofer and 4 JBL speakers which is producing a good sound stage with plenty of bass response. I have read of others not getting great results and the only common factor seems to be not using a Motorola HDMI cable which is causing the problems.

The only problem with common sense is its just not that common.

I hook my Xoom into my TV through the HD Dock I bought. I get a rather clear picture, and don't have any issues with the cable not staying in since it sits down onto the HDMI plug on the dock. If you hook it up on a regular basis, I would recommend the dock. The speakers on it are darn good too, but I still output to a better pair of speakers that sit at the TV.

I also bought something similar to these little items to connect to another 6' MDMI cable:
HDMI connector - Google Search so it's not sitting right on top of the TV. Once I get my BT mouse, maybe that will change.

Same issue with cable. Kinda sensitive if you move it. Wish we could push resolution to 1080.
