    FoxReal and PavTube Issues

    Hey guys,
I finally got an external HD over the weekend and decided I'd start converting some of my BluRays so I could watch on my Xoom. I downloaded the trials of PavTube Ultimate and FoxReal Blu-Ray Ripper. Both start out like they're going to create the mp4 and then they crash. All I get is "Product has encountered an unexpected error"....

Neither appear to have any logging for errors so I have no clue what the issue is...I also ran into this issue with DVDCatalyst...

Anybody got an idea as to what the issue could be?

    My PC:
    Win7 Pro 64-bit
    AMD Athlon II P360 Dual-Core 2.3 GHZ
    8GB RAM
    Moto Droid X - LGB
Motorola WiFi Xoom - Tiamat 2.0.1

So nobody has any ideas or has ever seen this type of behavior out of any of these products?

Odd thing though, it's when I'm trying to convert to MP4 format...I could do a full copy of the blu-ray folder structure w/out any issues as well as a full copy of the standard DVD..I shouldn't have to make a copy of the blu-ray and/or standard DVD prior to conversion, should I?

With DVD Catalyst, do you have AnyDVD HD installed AND the DVD Catalyst 4.1 RC2 (or a previous beta?) AND the Bluray Checkmark enabled in Global Settings > Bluray?

Which BRs did you have issues with?

With DVDCatalyst, I tried with a standard DVD, "Dazed & Confused"...When I first bought DVDCat I used it successfully on my laptop. I recently got a new PC and with the new PC is where I'm having the issues. My laptop had an Intel processor and my new PC has an Athlon..That couldn't make any issues, could it?

The BluRay that I had issues with (when using PavTube and FoxReal as well as the trial of AnyDVD HD) was "The Fighter".

THe new processor could have been the reason for complications. A certain model has problems with H264 conversions.
Try selecting the "Fast" profile for your conversions, and see if that works better. If it does, you either have a processor of the same series (AMD Atholn 2 P) or AMD did it again with a new processor.

OK thanks. I'll give that a try when I get home this evening. One question tho, if it's the processor am I pretty much SOL on conversions?

Well, back in December I had a few people report issues with H264 MP4 conversions, and after troubleshooting I figured out it was due to a certain AMD processor. I promised my wife a new laptop for x-mas (instead of the hand-me-downs she has been using) and decided to pick one up with that particular series of processor, a Dell M5030.

Failed Conversions on recent AMD 64bit systems | DVD Catalyst 4, the ultimate app for movies & tv on the go

In addition to DVD Catalyst, I decided to give 2 of my competitors a shot on it as well, Handbrake and Clone DVD Mobile, and all 3 had the same issues on this laptop. Shortly after I found out about the issue, and pinpointed the problem, I released a Beta version, which includes a newer conversion engine that solved this particular issue (and added basic Bluray support as well). The strange thing in your scenario is that you are already using the beta, so it should not happen.

The fast profile I suggested is the first troubleshooting method. The fast profile uses MPEG4-SP for the video format, rather than H264, which will still produce playable files. If this works, and the non-fast profiles do not, it resembles the AMD issue.

If both types fail, it is not the processor, but likely a conflicting video application on your laptop.
