problem playing 720p video

So i have a slight problem that i can't get my head around. i have put a few video files on my xoom. all the one that are 480p play just fine eg: tv shows, dvdrips etc. But when i try to play a 720p copy of a video it jumps. No fluidity like the regualr video files. It does not matter if they are mp4, mkv or mpg, if it is 720p I am having issues. i can play the videos i take with the xoom by the way. I am using MOBO Player and using the software decoding does not help. Any Ideas?? Please help I am stumped. And this has probably been talked about on here before but i can't find a thread.

Nevermind. I googled and found I need to use Handbreak to convert the videos. Even if they already are mp4.

I'd use DVD Catalyst given a choice. Reliably good conversion results with less fiddling than Handbrake.

Stupid question? Do you need the DVD? These are all files I already have on various hard drives.
