The reason I ask is there are a number of Android apps I would like to run, most of which require v1.6 and above so I was wondering how this mod would relate to versions of Android?

So would it be correct to assume that CM is essential GingerBread?

And therefore I can install an Android app that requires v1.6 and above and that app should work on the TouchPad?
