I have seen a few references on YouTube and in print that claim the iPad has a clearer display. Any thoughts or observations?

This is a discussion on Display comparison between iPad and Xoom within the Motorola Xoom vs. Others forums, part of the Motorola Xoom Forum category; I have seen a few references on YouTube and in print that claim the iPad has a clearer display. Any thoughts or observations?...

Clearer is a matter of opinion. Some see it clearer others don't. Likes like saying a Ferrari is better than Mercedes. I believe they're about even (IMO)

Yeah but the difference between the displays isn't a matter of opinion, it's an unfortunate fact - the iPad's is much better. It uses an IPS panel, compared to the TN panel in the Xoom. You can debate it all you want but when you look at them side by side all day as I do the difference is striking.
The Xoom display isn't terrible but it's a noticeable difference. When I demo'd a new web-based app for my company early this week across the devices that was the very first thing I was asked - why was the Xoom not as bright, why was it "fuzzier", etc etc.
There's a whole thread here dedicated to this btw, right here.
Comparing the iPad and Xoom is like apples to oranges. They appeal to different people in different ways. There are quite a few features where the Xoom excels and vice versa. The iPad is just a giant iPhone!

Well since "clearness" would be a function of resolution and not saturation or viewing angles or anything else I'm not sure how anyone would consider iPad to be "clearer."
It's perfectly clear (pun intended) what the difference is when you see them side by side. Whatever else you think of the iPad there's no debating if it has a better screen - it does. That doesn't make it the better tablet by itself, or a reason not to get a Xoom, but the OP was asking about screen quality specifically.
I don't care if you think the colors suck or the viewing angles suck or that TN panels are ancient technology that don't belong in anything any more, it is still a higher res display. Pretty hard to argue that a lower res display is unambiguously superior in every way. You might prefer it but I will take the higher resolution, thanks.
i read that the xoom has better viewing angles, minus color fade
