Asus Transformer
Well I am 45 minutes away from picking up my Transformer. I wanted to start a thread where I will do a comparrison.
My main points for the move actually have nothing to do with pricing although it is nice.
1. Screen; obviously the Xoom is lacking here.
2. keyboard; goes without saying however the extra battery is super attractive. Not only that the Transformer charges the pad first then the battery. If you put a dead battery tab on the keyboard with a full battery it will actually charge the tab from the keyboard battery if you dont have an outlet handy, very cool!
3. Mouse; speaks for itself. I cant tell you how frustrating it has been trying to highlite words I typed on the xoom to edit them.
I have more reasons but those are my top 3 for now.
I sold my 3G Xoom for $675 in an hour and a half on ebay last night and feel I got lucky right before the value plummets.
This isnt about bashing the Xoom though. As I said I loved the device but the shortcomings really got to me over time.
I should have a better review with my thoughts on comparing the two by this afternoon. If you have any specific questions please feel free to ask.

It does look nice, but whats the fun of having a tablet if your going to use it like a computer? I bought mine because I like the touch experience, if I wanted to use a mouse and keyboard I'd just buy a netbook or the Dell inspiron duo. I know some people may like it just to have the option to do it but not for me, I use my xoom alot on the couch and in bed and feel a keyboard/mouse are just too uncomfortable. Not trying to hate on you just my opinion, also find it weird people are posting stuff about other tablets in a xoom forums

Absolutely unbelievable. Once again Best Buy has fallen on their face. I spoke with an employee last night who said they had the units in stock but couldnt sell them until today. I get there first today and guess what, NO units... Either he is a lying POS or the employees bought them. Pissed is an understatement...
As far as the comment above goes, I can have my cake and eat it too. Obviously I can play with mine in bed etc but when I need to compose an email of length the keyboard is a great assett. I can do anything you can with the Xoom plus I can make it do so much more...

Obviously the forum caters to this since there is a dedicated XOOM VS. forum... And frankly I want to know when other Xoom members try new devices so I can relate to their comparrisons.

Thats why we have the Xoom vs Others section, to do just that, compare and contrast.
I Like the price on it, and some of the features as well. I have mixed emotions about the keyboard and mouse add on. I bought my tablet to get away from such things. And the added cost puts the tablet in the range of a netbook or starter laptop. I also worry about the keyboard and mouse in relation to regular Android Apps, as most apps are currently not even optimized for 3.0, much less a 3rd party keyboard and mouse. From what I understand, its not handled as BT, but as part of the device itself.
The 16gb onboard is begging to be upgraded via the SD slot, and will add to the overall cost as well. Another optional cost I fear.
This reminds me of my netbook, that started off cheap, but becomes more expensive as I added to it. I needed upgrade to the full version of win7. Then I added memory for better performance, and finally a DVD read only drive to add software in that I needed on the laptop. I loved the size, but was alarmed on how the cost rose to the point i could have bought a full laptop outright.
I look forward to what you think of it when you post it. I think many of us are

Yep, looking forward to seeing what your take is on the Asus once you have it in your hands and get to play with it.
There's always room for more than one android tablet.

I am thinking the release date may have been wrong because they are not available on BB's website not in any stores that I can find. I was looking forward to hearing some review on this one too.

This tablet looks awesome. If I hadn't been incapable of waiting for xoom I would've bought it. But I'm happy with xoom :]
