Xoom vs Samsung 10.1 tab

Samsung 10.1 tab will NOT have an SD card slot.

Xoom does have one but not yet enabled, and no official word from Motorola about when.

Neither really will allow USB Flash Drives to be connected for file transfers. Huh? What's with that? Again, no word as to when!

Samsung 10.1 is thinner and lighter.

Xoom may have a larger percentage of stronger (non-plastic) materials, considering that most of the Samsung 10.1 is plastic.

Any feelings as to which might be the superior tablet?

I am afraid this is like cars, too many variables, and certainly likes and dislikes that sway the preferences of buyers...

I like my Xoom but that is not to say that if it were $100 cheaper and came with a keyboard dock that I wouldn't like it more, but that is not the case, although more expensive then most other purchases of similar 'need'.

I think it works well and will stand the course until the next greatest tablet hits the street! :-)

To many disadvantages for the 10.1 for me. No SD card slot, no USB port (so no USB host), no HDMI port and initially no release date = no sale for me. The only thing it has going for it is its thinner and lighter than the Xoom.

If there's no USB port how do you transfer data? Is there a Samsung port like apples idevice one on it?

Yepper. It has a proprietary. Port.

Samsung made this tablet to show them that it is possible to put a higher def screen into a tablet for the same price. Apple hosed us on that when they released the IPad 2 with the same screen as the OG iPad. The Tab 10.1 will be nice. The Sdcard is a bonus to me, not a necessity.

Ugh, proprietary stuff is the devil. That just hugely turned me off to that tablet. It is like taking a girl home and finding out she has.... nevermind, this is a family forum.
