Purchased samsung tab 10 today at best buy. My comparison to xoom.
Purchased the 16gb samsung tab 10 today at best buy. I wanted to give my comparison compared to the xoom.
1. Form factor - Samsung hands down wins. There is no contest as samsung is in a class of its own here. Its RAZOR thin compared to the xoom and feels better in the hand since it lighter.
2. Screen - Again no contest. Samsung screen is amazing. Colors and contrast are better but the most surprising aspect I found was viewing angles. The viewing angles are so good its beyond belief. There is ZERO color and contrast degradation when tilting the samsung tab 10 even all the way to the point where you cant view the screen anymore. The only thing I notice is that it gets slightly dimmer at extreme angles but colors and contrast remain. Truly awesome and this is a HUGE feature that is lacking on the xoom. From what I have read samsung uses their own new LPS screens which are better than IPS and xoom uses 3rd party TN or VA screen.
3. Speed - I noticed the samsung tab 10 is faster in menus and swiping home screens and an overall more polished "flow". This must be from Honeycomb 3.1. Im sure the xoom will be just as fluid as well when it receives 3.1
4. Updates - What can I say? This samsung already has 3.1 while the xoom is stuck on 3.0 with no given date for upgrade. Samsung wins here.
5. Ports - Xoom wins here. No ports on the tab 10 other than samsungs proprietary port. Samsung has all the features like USB hosting, HDMI but you need an adapter.
6. Speaker - Its a draw. The xoom has some more base but the tab 10s stereo speakers are very crisp and the stereo effect is really noticeable as the speakers are on each side.
Will post some pics of my new unit soon. Overall the samsung tab 10 is in a class of its own. The form factor and amazing screen create an experience second to none. This is one reason why samsung chose to remove the micro sd slot (micro SD slot is on 3g version)...because they can and people will still buy as it has no competition in the android tablet market.

Love the metalic finish but i hate how cheap the plastic feels. Also the lack of expandable memory is le suxors.

I would like that 30 pin connector. The Galaxy is a nice tab for sure and yes, the Xoom is far more fluid on 3.1.

Well I have the 3.1 update on my Xoom. Are you in Europe OP? I also purchased a 32 GB Galaxy tab 10.1 today but my unit was DOA and wouldn't even power on. That should tell you something right there. There wasn't another 32 gb unit for me to trade for so I just got my money back. It is feather light for sure tho.

lol, you have to charge the unit. Plus there is a button at the top you need to press to turn it on.

My Xoom is running 3.1 and its very fluid in screen/application switching. Hard to imagine anything better than the Xoom in that regard. As for screen contrast and asthetics, the Xoom comes out of the box on a low default brightness level which I didnt immediately realize. Boost that up and the contrast is amazing. Happy with the Xoom, only one complaint.. The I/O ports should all be located in the same area. Motorola designed it with the Media bay in mind, but for those that opted for the carry case/stand, the ports are located in a bad place - the bottom edge that rests in the casing, while the headphone jack is top center. No matter which way you position the Xoom in its casing, something always ends up on the bottom - preventing you from using those ports.

My case allows access to all ports at all times

Just remember if you've ever had a Samsung Android phone, the chance of getting an OS upgrade are slim to none. Remember the Samsung Behold 2, it came out in 2009 with android 1.5 and died a horrible death 2 years later only being upgraded to android 1.6.
