I would like the Tab's screen in the body of the Xoom. Other than that I see no advantage to either.

The Galaxy HDMI dongle is $39.99. Proprietary. Made by Samsung. If you get one for $5, its probably hot. And thats on you. Plus you have to buy an HDMI cable. Forgive me as its been a long couple of days for me, but 1 + 1 = 2 correct? As the previous equation states 2 > 1. $47 > $7.
The proprietary Samsung USB dongle is $20. And while Micro HMDI isn't as popular as full size...micro USB is used in possibly every single cell phone on the market (and many other devices.)
I know this is hard for you to believe...but I have no I interest in proprietary cables and dongles by Samsung or Apple. I'm not thrilled with Xoom's proprietary charger...except it charges so freaking fast that its a bit more forgivable. Samsung = proprietary. Xoom = standard. I like Xoom better. You don't. Its ok. But launching into a panicked defense about buying cables and so forth is just sad and in now way changes the objective meaning of the word proprietary.
And on that note: REQUIRED VIEWING

Wow, Malibu brings up the word "fanboy" when talking about the reviewer, but I haven't seen a bigger fanboy come around on this site since 5thElement (is that you??)
Let me make a simple diagram since you obviously don't understand simple English.
Xoom -----> Micro-HDMI to HDMI cable -------> TV (ONE cable from the Xoom to the TV)
Galaxy ------> Propietary Dongle --------> HDMI cable -------> TV (TWO cables from the Galaxy to the TV)
Xoom ------> USB OTG Adapter cable ---------> Game Controller/Thumb Stick/Hard Drive/etc
Galaxy -------> Propietary USB OTG Adapter -------> Game Controller/Etc
Now that's the same amount of cables, but what if you wanted to do something like I do and do some classic gaming on a big screen. There isn't any way to do HDMI out and use the USB host adapter at the same time (at least not in any accessory I've seen so far.) So while I'm happily enjoying two player classic gaming using a couple USB PS3 controllers while my Xoom is also connected to a big screen via HDMI, you will have to choose one or the other. Have fun with that. Or maybe once someone does a custom kernel for the Xoom and enables it's version of 3.1 to use thumb sticks and USB hard drives like the Xoom can, you won't be able to watch a nice HD movie from your thumb stick or hard drive on a big screen TV. I know you might say you could copy it onto your Galaxy, but with only 16GB, unless you sprung for the 32GB, you'll have a hard time fitting a good quality HD movie on there which ranges from 6GB+. You might say you just put DIVX movies on it, but in that case, what a waste of a TV, I refuse to play anything SD on any of my HD screens (including my Xoom) it looks like crap. Would be especially wasteful on that nice screen the Galaxy has, considering the screen and how thin it is, is really all it has going for it.
It's not a huge deal, really, but the fact is, it is one extra cable you have to carry around. Also, quite a few Android phones use a Micro-HDMI out connector, so some people will already have the same cable that the Xoom can use.
Oh, and one more thing, the Galaxy will NEVER EVER EVER have an SD slot (maybe a newer model, but not this one), but the Xoom has one. It might not work out of the box, but with following a simple guide and about 20 minutes of my time, I had a working SD port quite a while ago and have been happily enjoying multiple cards ever since. Try that on your Galaxy. LOL

Ummmmm. No.
As of right now, there is no accessory for the Galaxy that goes directly from the proprietary connector to HDMI. Right now what is available is the proprietary connector to a female HDMI, which you then connect a normal HDMI cable into. TWO CABLES.
Oh, and if those cables do start popping up on eBay, more power to you. But there is a reason they are so cheap, just remember, you get what you pay for.
