I know the benefits for rooting a phone but are the benefits that great for the Xoom? The thing isn't full of crapware, it's a powerful beast and the first battery charged lasted just over 12 hours (and believe me, I spent almost the whole 12 hours fondling the thing)

I think I'm gonna wait for the custom roms but overclocking is tempting.

edit--- I caved. I'm rooted, overclocked and adfree.

I inquired at one point about rooting my wifi Xoom but someone suggested I wait until the SD card update hits. Im a bit confused about that. Is there a risk that I wont be able to get the update if I root?

I am really itching to do it but don't want to if it means that I might have trouble with updates.
