Not sure if that is normal but if I sleep my xoom and set it down, it will have no active internet for about 20-30 seconds before it reconnects. Is this normal?

There is a power management profile for this.
Goto:
Settings | Wireless & Networks | Wi-Fi Settings | Wi-Fi disconnect policy
If the setting you have selected is "When screen turns off" then everything is running as expected.
Keep on Xoomin'
it is set to never disconnect and I should point out this does not happen 100% of the time
Then that sounds like either:
- A flaky radio in the Xoom
- A flaky router
- Channel interference
When my old router got to the three year mark, I received all sorts of connectivity drops. It seemed to be isolated to a single device (at the time it was my laptop) as all other devices were running fine. After a bunch of troubleshooting, I went out and brought a new router with a fresh radio in it. Everything was fine from then on in. Soooooo.... How old is yours?
If your router is new, consider configuring it to run on a different channel.

Router is less than 6 months old. I get a lot of interference in my house for some reason so I will chalk it up to that. Thanks for replying
Try a different channel on your router. Unless your limited to using channel 1 for certain devices like a wii or something.
When I get home and my xoom is in my lunch box from work, it starts making all sorts of noise (notifications) from email and whatever else.
I would normally be the last person on the planet to recommend a solution from Microsoft but I have found that this article is extremely helpful explaining to non-technical (and sometimes technical people) about how to resolve interference.
How to improve your wireless network and boost its signal
One thing I also recommend is to mount your wifi router at least 4ft from the floor and at least two 2ft below the ceiling. Some make the mistake of mounting them flush to the ceiling and this leaves little room to properly bounce the signal.

i hear they never have wifi issues in china.mainly due to the use of lead paint![]()
Never Fear the iOwl is Here
Could the Motorola portfolio case cause drop in coverage? If I leave screen flap folded back I stay connected but if I shut it and put xoom to sleep it will lose connection about 70% of the time.
