WiFi Xoom updated to 3.2. Bought a 32 gb SD card. Put some movies on it. Put in my SD card slot. Can't access it. No /mnt/exernal1 path.
I go to settings - storage - mount SD card - nothing happens.
What do I need to do?

Not sure what you are using to 'access' the movies, but Gallery will see them.
I use File Manager HD and below is a quick explanation on how to use it to see the microSD card inserted into your Xoom.
When you first open File Manager HD on the Xoom, the information that you see is for the Internal Storage, at the top of that screen there is a green button labled as "Up", press this to see additional selections. "external1" is the microSD Card inserted in the Xoom, "sdcard" is the "Internal Storage".
You probably know this but make sure the sd card is pushed in all the way until it clicks.
The SD card seems to be the problem. I got the /external1 directory but it shows 0 free instead of 12 Gb (what was free after I put the movies on) and 0 used. Through USB there is no /external1 directory. When I put the SD card in the adapter and put it the computer Windows says it has to be formatted and the format fails
Are the Movies in a folder named "Movies"? I just bought a 32gb sd card and I put it into my Xoom, then used the little USB cord that cam with my Xoom, and had it connected to the Xoom and pc. I opened "My computer" and saw the Xoom. Clicked on it, then clicked on SD card. There I made a new folder and named it "Movies". Then added a few movies and now they are accessible through the Galley app on the Xoom. I never "formated" anything. Perhaps thats the wrong thing to do but it worked for me. But I never saw anything asking me to format it.
Through the PC USB connection the Xoom internal memory is listed as "Internal Storage" and the microSD is "SD Card"
As Oldman said, all I did was to insert the card into the Xoom connect the USB cable to my PC and copy files to it, in fact they don't even have to be in folders with appropriate names and Gallery and File Manager HD will still see them, I never altered the format on the microSD card. In fact prior to using in the Xoom it was in my Blackberry Torch, all I did was delete the files before copying the new ones to the card, I have audio/video/pictures and documents on the SD Card now...
I did read somewhere that you should not use basic Windows to format your card, here is a link to the SD Card Association that provides more information and a formater for use from Windows. IIRC the format of the MicroSD card is FAT32.
Has any one really noticed the difference in speed of the Class 2, 4 and Class 10 micro SD cards?
Adios XOOM it has been, well an experience

This was very helpful - thanks for pointing out that the card becomes external1 when viewed in File Manger HD. Now I'm having problems with actually using the SD card. When I try to move or copy/past files from the Xoom internal to the SD card, File Manager doesn't seem to like changing from internal to the card. The "Paste" icon inactivates when I go switch to external1 and there's no equivalent to ctrl+V on the Xoom. any hints on how to actually transfer files to the SD card? I have no problem doing it when the USB cable is hooked to my PC, but I'd hate to think that's the only way to manage files.
Thanks in advance!
You'd need to be rooted.
