Ad Hoc
Hi,
first post so go easy
recently got a motorola xoom, first tablet and I'm not really a techno geek so I don't really want to try rooting it at the risk of losing £250 the day after buying it!
But at uni, the library doesnt have wifi so I want to try to use my phone as an internet hotspot to connect my xoom up to the internet whenever I need to. However, my phone generates an ad hoc connection using joikuspot and so as the xoom is an adroid device, can't automatically connect to the network - which is feckin annoying!
I've searched loads and can't find a solution for unrooted xooms so I'm posting in the hope someone here might know any solutions?
Any help is much appreicated

Welcome to the forum.
Glad you decided to join us. You might try bluetooth tethering.
Bluetooth Tethering for Xoom (no root needed)
SGS-IV-Stock_Rooted
Nexus 4 - CyanMod 10.1
SGS-II - Rooted - Jedi Mind Trick VX3
Samsung Note II - Jedi Master 13
Motorola Xoom - WiFi - Rooted - EOS 4.2.1 Nightlies

as far as i know, unless you root and flash the ad hoc fix (which is included in most of the custom kernels and roms), your xoom wont see ad hoc networks.
sorry

phone isn't android, its a nokia e5, would that mean it won't work?
also if it isn't possible, does anyone know if there is likely to be an update in the future to allow it?
