Video calls on Skype

How do you make Video calls on Skype? My Xoom came loaded with Skype. I can make audio calls to land line phones and to other computers but can not figure out how to turn on video. I can turn on the camera but when I go to Skype the camera turns off. I do not get any video call button on my screen. When trying to make these calls I was connected to my home wifi - I was not using the Verizon wireless connection. I heard that Verizon blocks SKYPE viedo calls on their network.

Skype for Android only supports audio calls right now unless you have the HTC Thunderbolt. They say there is an update coming for video chat but who knows when that could be. FYI... Google Talk works good.

I got skype on my xoom, I think it was preloaded, and I can make video calls to my brother who also has a xoom, with skype loaded. Im in England and he is in Hongkong, further more I could switch from the front camera to the rear. I remember on initialising the camera, skype said the cameras were not officially supported.

I can confirm that the latest version of Skype works on the Xoom. I haven't tried changing the camera - not sure that there is an option for this - but the person I called said that all looked well. I was on a WiFi connection and there was no delay. The received video was poor but could just have been the camera on the other end.

The latest version automatically detects the presence of the camera and pops up a dialogue box asking if you want to activate it. Prior to this it was an option way down at the bottom of the settings list which popped up a warning. Now all is well...
