2nd init possible?

Hi folks! Just got pointed into this direction and am somewhat of delving into this topic:

i know we still have no real custom recovery but afaik some kind of custom recoverys have already been built but can't be used. so what about using 2nd init to either launch custom recovery or stop 1st init from overwriting the recovery image? or at least to boot into a 2nd init rom?

sadly i don't know enought about android development to try it myself but I'm eager to learn and if someone needs a guinny pig for this i would be glad if i could help

having read myself enough into 2nd init i guess there will be no way to get this running on our xoom2/xyboard models, as the devices need to be running some froyo-kernel to get this working. Maybe even a tweaked gingerbread-kernel can be used for 2nd init, but it should not be possible with honeycomb or even ics. So i guess our best bet is to concentrate on the option luxxx123 @ XDA is going to give us. This will (as long as it hopefully works) be hijacking the charging animation while the tab is shut off and connected to a charger to load up a custom recovery. we'll see what will be the outcome. let's hope the best
