Charging port circuit board or advise for repairing needed

I have a Xyboard 10.1 32B that no longer charges. The light comes on rarely when any (including the original) power cable is attached. I believe the USB charging port in the unit is no longer viable. Is there a parts supplier that would have these components? Or is there some advice I can get for repairing this?

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join us. Can you charge it with the pin charger?

sounds like you have motherboard damage. unless your an electronics tech, or have experience repairing it may be a no go. replacing it may be a more viable option as xoom wifi and xoom wifi/3g/4g are selling on ebay for less that $200. you could also contact motorola, and pay $150 or so for them to try and repair it. but they may just ship it back saying it cannot be fixed.

the other option is to use a xoom dock to charge, those are rather cheap atm.

It's not a motherboard issue. The small composite tab in the micro-usb port is loose. This is a small card in the base of the Xyboard and that's the only part I'm looking for. Specifically I'm looking for a supplier for this part.

I'm not sure what you mean by pin charger.

I think the Xoom and Xyboard 10.1 use different circuit board configurations. In the Xyboard the HDMI and Micro USB port are on one small card. (http://www.techrepublic.com/photos/c...-view-selector)

hmm, you might try Moto, or you could always try ebay and get a cheap xyboard for parts. other than that I am not sure.

you could try reheating the solder.the solder holding those parts to the circuit board.ive seen so many laptops.with broken power jacks its not even funny.normally what i suggested will fix it.

I am in the process of doing the EXACT same repair. I am looking for the board also. If i find a source for it, I will let you know.
We had a customer rip the connector off completely to the point it could not be soldered back on.

Ebay is your friend. The one I bought had an ebay description of:

"New Motorola xoom 2 USB Charging PCB board port"

    Might help you search..
