    Beginner info

Just thinking about getting a Xoom wifi in the UK. Had a look at the various accessories for it, particularly on Ebay and am struck by the number of USB chargers - surely a Xoom cannot be charged via USB, a car charger OK but not one that has a USB port - and definitely not one that ends in a micro USB plug.

One of the problems with buying new kit is the assortment of bits and bobs to go with it!!!!

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join us. The OG Xoom cannot be charged via USB but the Xoom FE, Xoom2 and the XYBoard can. I have a car charger that works fine on the OG Xoom.

    Welcome from another brit

You will find them all really helpful on here......for Americans (aghhh, no, stop throwing things at me )

Seriously, ask away, no question is stupid, the xoom doesn't exactly come with a detailed manual so , especially if you are new to Android, you will probably need help here and there but generally, its an easy device albeit with a few glitches that can normally be sorted.

There are lots of generic listings on ebay that would have you believe that usb chargers and usb ehd's will work with the xoom, they won't unless you root! so be careful, but SD cards work great, headphones, bluetooth (or usb) keyboards are all great, you can even connect to the tv using an hdmi cable and that works flawlessly,

    Thanks.

I am an Android fan, I have an Advent Vega which is very good but it's time for something better and I had an HTC Desire and now a Galaxy S2 (which is waiting for ICS - sound familiar?). I won't 'mess about' with the S2 but I am happy to try things with the Advent Vega, I will probably have some fun with the Xoom - as long as I can get it back to its original state, lots of stuff to learn about.
