non rooted wifi only motorola xoom powe button problem

hi every1 first time poster long time lurker,my motorola xoom tablet will only stay on if i keep the powe button pressed,the moment i let go BOOM it turns off,im either gonna bin it or self harm,plz help,its a uk wifi only non rooted xoom,can any1 help,oh and im basically a technology retard,i dont have a clue

Sounds like the power button doesn't work properly, is it under warranty?

Welcome to the forum. Glad you decided to join us. We've had one member with the sam issue as yours as far as I can remember and his was under warranty and Motorola fixed it for him.

hi and thanks for the replies,it did fix itself for a few hours the other day after i saw a graphic of my android lay on his back with his chest open and a red triangle there,,had my xoom for a while so doubt the warranty is still going,do u think a factory reset wud do anything,,ta for ur time

Sounds like a physical thing to me, a contact problem, or maybe not traveling fully. Here's a long shot suggestion - in all seriousness. Lay the Xoom on a flat surface face down, and prod the button repeatedly, very firmly with your finger. Controlled aggression It may just fix it. Worth a try.

If your Xoom is still under warranty give Motorola a call. If you break it worse trying to fix it, it's all on you.
